Privacy Policy for SqueezeBar
Last Updated: December 16, 2025
Simple Summary
SqueezeBar does not collect, store, or share any of your data. Your files stay on your Mac. We don’t know what files you compress, and we don’t want to know.
The Full Policy
What SqueezeBar Is
SqueezeBar is a macOS application that compresses files (images, videos, and PDFs) on your computer. It runs entirely on your Mac.
What Data We Collect
None. We collect zero data.
Specifically:
- We don’t collect your personal information
- We don’t collect file names or content
- We don’t collect usage statistics
- We don’t use analytics or tracking
- We don’t collect crash reports (unless you manually send one)
- We don’t know what files you compress
- We don’t know how often you use the app
What Data We Store
None on our servers. Because we don’t have servers.
All files you compress stay on your Mac. SqueezeBar saves compressed files to the same folder as your original file. That’s it.
The app may store preferences on your Mac (like your last used compression settings), but this data never leaves your computer.
What Data We Share
Nothing. Because we have nothing to share.
We don’t share, sell, rent, or trade any information because we don’t collect any information in the first place.
Internet Connection
SqueezeBar works completely offline. The app does not:
- Send files to any server
- Connect to the internet for compression
- Upload or download anything
- Phone home
- Check for analytics
- Report usage
If SqueezeBar checks for updates (if you enable this in macOS System Settings), that’s handled by macOS itself, not by our app.
File Access Permission
SqueezeBar needs permission to access files on your Mac. Here’s why:
- To read the file you want to compress
- To save the compressed file to your chosen location
SqueezeBar only accesses files you specifically choose. The app cannot and does not scan your computer or access files you didn’t select.
Third-Party Services
We don’t use any third-party services. No analytics. No crash reporting. No ad networks. No tracking SDKs. Nothing.
The app uses Apple’s built-in frameworks (ImageIO, AVFoundation) and Ghostscript (bundled with the app) for compression. These are local tools that run on your Mac only.
Children’s Privacy
SqueezeBar doesn’t collect data from anyone, including children. The app is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages.
Data Security
Since we don’t collect or transmit data, there’s no data to secure on our end. Your files stay on your Mac, protected by your Mac’s security features (encryption, passwords, etc.).
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Use SqueezeBar without creating an account
- Compress files privately
- Delete the app anytime (no data remains on any server)
- Contact us with questions
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change this policy (hopefully to make it even shorter), we’ll update this page and change the “Last Updated” date at the top.
If we ever decide to collect data (we won’t, but hypothetically), we’ll update this policy first and make it very clear in the app.
